Elaine Park, M.Div, RP

Perhaps you're asking yourself the question, "can things be better than how they are now?" My resounding answer is yes! In fact, the pain you may be feeling, the sadness or anger, are signals that something is not right, and when we can connect with that, those feelings become the starting point for healing and transformation. We do not have to live as things are, there is a hope for something better; and we all need help getting there. I hope for the opportunity to step into your difficulties, and together embark on change to discover the hope we all can have.

I address issues holistically by hearing and understanding your concerns, and also considering your emotions, cognitions, behaviours, trauma, family of origin, physical health, and faith/spirituality. By taking a broad perspective and addressing day-to-day issues, we can gain awareness of how these factors interact and contribute to your concerns. I integrate techniques from Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Mindfulness/Meditation and Biblical Counselling into my practice to address the many factors that contribute to the problems experienced, and to provide you, the client, with personalized tools to cope with the issues outside of the therapy office. With a client-centered, collaborative approach, I always take your lead. I am not the expert, you are the expert on you. My job is to support, challenge, propose alternatives, and troubleshoot together so that we can get to where you want to be.

Through my education and years of training, I have had the opportunity to work with, and journey with, individuals of a diverse background, dealing with a variety of mental health concerns, including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, eating disorders, trauma, spirituality, and relationship conflict. So I believe that no matter who you are, what you have experienced and what your concerns are, we are not bound to the life we live; there is a hope for change, and for something better.
